Why Localization Is Our Daily Business (And Should Be Yours)
Two founders, five languages, one conviction: expansions rarely fail because of the product, but through missing localization. The story behind LDMM Agency.

We are often asked why two founders based in Hamburg chose to dedicate their agency to international expansion.
The answer is simple: because we know both sides of the equation.
Two perspectives on the same challenge
Before founding LDMM Agency, we worked in organizations where international growth was supported by large teams, substantial budgets and established processes – including a fast-growing fintech and Gebr. Heinemann, a global leader in travel retail.
There, we learned what successful internationalization requires: the right infrastructure, close coordination and consistent execution.
Today, we also see the other reality every day. SMEs and eCommerce brands face many of the same strategic questions – which markets to enter, which website structure to choose, which payment methods to offer and how to adapt their content – but with only a fraction of the resources.
Our approach was designed for exactly this situation: the rigor of a large organization, adapted to the budgets, structures and pace of SMEs.
Five languages, no generic translations
One of our clearest strengths is that we work in German, English, French, Spanish and Italian.
This is not simply a sales argument. It shapes the way we work.
When we conduct keyword research for the German market, it is carried out by someone who understands how German customers search. When we write a page for Spain, we use the language and vocabulary of the Spanish market rather than relying on a generic translation.
Localization is not a buzzword for us. It is part of our everyday work: a French SEO audit in the morning, a German content plan in the afternoon.
Our key lesson from more than ten years in eCommerce
If we had to take one lesson from all these years, it would be this:
International expansions rarely fail because of the product alone. More often, they fail because the market has not been properly localized.
The brands that succeed are not always those with the best product. They are often the ones that take their new market most seriously – its language, payment habits, customer expectations and trust signals.
If your company is considering a new market but is being held back by limited time, resources or in-house expertise, that is exactly the kind of challenge we enjoy discussing.
Our initial consultation is free and comes with no obligation.
